What did I expect from Danni Junnus’ first novel? Oh boy so many, from a to z. Who am I to expect? A consumer who spent Rp 35,000 on the book. AND, a person who knows her huehuehue.First of all, none of the reviews attached on the book helped me to narrow my parameter over what I should be expecting from
this book. However, sudah banyak pujian tampaknya. Seneng deh Dann!. Now, allow me to deliver my points of view.

Ei Tu Ze, yang -sesuai judulnya- seharusnya ngasi banyak ruang untuk imajinasi, buat Carlo cenderung lebih banyak membuat berasumsi ria. Asumsi dari kesimpulan-kesimpulan Danni, seperti masalah ‘real guys’ pada page. Ke ‘real’ an lelaki tampaknya terdefinisi dari preferensi seksualnya; jadi straight-guys yang playboy tetap real-guys. Asumsi : kejantanan lelaki adalah semata tentang selera kelamin, tanpa attitude. Hmm. Straight-guys yang brengsek kayanya bukan real-guys kan? Lalu tentang pegangan tangan, agak kurang sreg dibahas bagi pasangan di atas 20 an? Hehe.

Nevertheless, this book embodies the promising potential of its author. Pembagian chapter dari A sampai Z (hence ‘Ei Tu Ze’) –though is not really a new approach tetap nunjukin,Danni punya semangat segar dalam menulis. Juga format SMS (yang juga diganggu masalah editing) cukup menarik untuk konsep buku, bukan cuma dalam cerpen seperti pernah dipakai Djenar M Ayu. Tampak akan lebih segar bila Danni mengeksplor dunia yang sangat dikenalnya; radio, fashion, & lifestyle. AND experience sebagai Mng Dir Potluck; kan bisa interview banyak orang jadi research bahan novelnya (maybe your next book?).

With such a gorgeous cover and an attention-grabbing title, Ei Tu Ze is a triger of great expectations. Where these expectations end, is hopefully not on this first novel. ‘Ei Tu Ze’ qualifies more as a published diary completed with modified conversations rather than as a ‘unique’ book as claimed by Melly.

At the end of the day, we all have to carefully re-define what ‘dream’really means. There’s a very thin line between dream, fantasy, wishes, and uhm, expectation. Because lately, I feel like ‘dream’ is becoming an overrated activity.

Dann, no matter what I say, you are now a writer with your own thang goin’ on. Enjoy your moment you, not-single white-female. Btw. : kok chapter “C” nya bukan Carlo sih?Huehuehuehuehuehuehuehue
